Yoga

Yoga is an ancient practice which involves postures, meditation and breathwork to promote physical and mental health wellbeing.

At Santosha Living we offer classes which incorporate the physical practice of asana to build strength, improve flexibility, balance and co-ordination, meditation practice for relaxation and breathwork (pranayama) to help support lung function, blood pressure as well as promoting relaxation and mindfulness.

As well as adult classes, we also teach Baby Yoga and Yoga for Children.

What are the benefits of Yoga?

Regular Yoga practice can help increase physical strength and flexibility, improve mental focus, concentration and clarity as well as promoting a sense of calm. The NHS website encourages regular Yoga practice to help with depression, stress, prevention of falls and arthritis.

No way!! Yoga can be taken up at any age and can definitely be enjoyed through advancing years. Santosha Living has classes from Baby Yoga through to Gentle Joint Mobility and Stretch.

Do I have to be able to touch my toes?

No way!! Santosha Living provide mixed ability classes. It would be handy to be able to get up and down from the floor, but modifications can be provided to enable the Yoga class to be chair based.

I have an existing injury/back pain, is it safe?

Yes, but please let the teacher know so that modifications can be offered to make your Yoga class enjoyable for you.
